Choose a Providoor office lunch only after confirming the cold storage, permitted appliance and preparation time available at work—and how you will keep the meal cold on the journey. A microwave method answers one question. It does not establish that the commute, fridge space or lunch break suits the same dish.
Providoor offers high quality meals that are easy to cook and finish, with instructions and cooking times specific to each dish. Use this kitchen-and-commute checklist to plan your own workday; the example below is a product-based plan, not a workplace preparation trial.
Browse Providoor meals for your workdays, then check each shortlisted product against the facilities you can actually use.

Check the workplace before choosing the dish
| Check | Confirm before relying on it | If the answer is no |
|---|---|---|
| Cold storage | Working fridge or freezer, enough space, and permission to use it | Choose another lunch plan unless you can maintain the required storage conditions. |
| Appliance | The product supplies a method for the permitted appliance | Pick another product; do not invent an alternative method. |
| Equipment | Any required microwave-safe plate or container, utensils and clean preparation space | Bring the required equipment or choose a suitable alternative. |
| Time and access | The complete pack instructions, including stirring or standing, fit around the appliance queue and your break | Change the plan rather than shorten the instructions. |
| Workplace rules | Shared-kitchen requirements and any restrictions relevant to the products you choose | Check with the workplace before bringing the meal. |
Check the exact ingredients and allergen statements for anyone sharing the lunch. This is a facilities checklist, not a guarantee that a product or shared kitchen meets an individual dietary requirement.
Plan the cold journey, not just the cooking
Keep the meal under its labelled storage conditions before leaving home and use suitable cold transport. NSW Food Authority’s lunchbox guidance recommends an insulated lunch box and ice block to help keep cold food cold. The same equipment is a useful starting point for planning a work commute, but an insulated bag does not provide a universal safe journey time or prove a frozen meal will stay frozen.
On arrival, put the meal into the appropriate cold storage. FSANZ advises keeping perishable food at 5°C or colder and not thawing frozen food at room temperature. Follow the product’s stricter storage and defrosting directions where applicable; do not use a desk, car or the commute as a defrosting method.
If you cannot keep the product under the required conditions from home to preparation, choose another lunch plan. A microwave at the destination does not solve a storage gap earlier in the day.
A current shared-lunch example for two
One Butter Chicken pack is currently listed at $23 and two servings. One Aromatic Rice pack is $9 and two servings. Together, they make a $32 food selection for two curry-and-rice lunches, using the listed portions. Adjust for appetite and any extras.
Both products have microwave instructions. Butter Chicken currently recommends thorough refrigerated defrosting for best results and includes film or container handling, stirring and standing steps. Aromatic Rice has its own bag and microwave-safe plate instructions, with different frozen and defrosted directions. Follow each product separately; there is no single time for the pair.
Agree who will eat both listed portions at the same lunch before choosing this example. It does not assume a two-serve pack is a single lunch, or promise that an opened remainder can be stored for a particular number of days. For other appliance choices, use the Providoor microwave and stovetop selection guide.
Build the order around actual workdays
The $32 pair is a menu example, not a qualifying standalone delivery order. Three Butter Chicken packs and three Aromatic Rice packs total $96 before delivery and discounts, providing three paired sets of two listed portions. Plan when each unopened pack will be used and follow its storage directions; this does not mean keeping all three lunches defrosted in an office fridge for a week.
Providoor’s minimum food order is $80 after discounts, excluding delivery. Standard free delivery starts at $179 for eligible Sydney addresses or $199 for eligible addresses in Victoria and Queensland. The $96 example is below those standard thresholds. Use Providoor Delivery Info for postcode, date and fee checks, then confirm any eligible offer and final total at checkout.
If ordering to a workplace, confirm that someone can receive the order and store it as required. A delivery address does not establish that reception can manage food storage.
