What Arrives in a Providoor Meal? A Guide to Cooking and Finishing

Providoor meals do not all need the same work in your kitchen. A ready-to-cook kit can contain raw components that must be cooked; an assembled dish can have its own heating and finishing stages; a dessert may need defrosting without cooking. The useful question before ordering is: what does this particular pack ask me to do?

Use this guide to choose the amount of preparation that fits your evening. Providoor offers high quality meals that are easy to cook and finish, with instructions specific to each dish.

Browse Providoor meals and choose your level of preparation. Open the cooking instructions for each dish before adding it to your order.

Three current examples: what is prepared, and what you do

These examples describe the work involved in the specific products linked below. They are a planning guide; the current product page and the latest instructions on your pack provide the complete preparation steps and checks.

Choose the preparation that fits your plans
Providoor dish What the product provides Your job at home
Sticky Sweet and Sour Pork Stir Fry Kit Pork, vegetables and a prepared sweet and sour sauce, supplied as a ready-to-cook kit. The instructions explicitly say the kit contains raw meat and must be fully cooked. Defrost it in the fridge before cooking, then follow the staged pan method for meat, vegetables and sauce. The product says not to microwave.
Roasted Pumpkin, Spinach and Ricotta Lasagne An assembled lasagne with pumpkin, spinach, ricotta, pasta and sauce. Follow its oven instructions in the supplied oven-safe CPET tray. The method has a covered stage, an uncovered finishing stage and standing time, with separate directions for frozen and defrosted preparation.
Country Berry Almond Tart A pack described as containing six baked berry and almond tartlets. The published method is “No Cooking Required” and says to defrost fully before eating. Allow for that step when planning dessert.

Prepared components can still need cooking

The pork kit removes the task of building a sweet and sour sauce from separate ingredients. Its supplied components still have a cooking sequence. Read the raw-meat notice and the full instructions, including the product’s food-safety checks, before you start.

This distinction matters when you are choosing between a kit and an assembled dish. A sauce being ready to use does not establish that the meat is cooked. Check the explicit wording for the exact product rather than relying on a photograph, category name or another dish you have ordered before.

Finishing is part of the meal plan

For the pumpkin lasagne, planning the meal includes the covered and uncovered stages and the standing time. Keep the instructions to hand so you can complete each stage in the right order. A dish with several stages may still suit your evening well if you can set it going while you prepare the table or other parts of dinner.

The tartlets ask for a different kind of planning: defrosting. “No Cooking Required” describes their published method; it does not remove the instruction to defrost fully. Follow the pack’s storage and defrosting directions, and decide whether you want to add the cream or ice cream suggested on the product page.

There is no single cooking time for the Providoor range. Each dish has its own method, timing and checks. For detailed preparation guidance, visit the Providoor meal preparation hub.

Your before-order checklist

  1. Identify the work. Does the exact product say to cook raw components, complete heating and finishing stages, or defrost before serving?
  2. Read the whole method. Include any defrosting, covering, stirring, finishing and standing steps in your plan. Do not stop at the appliance heading.
  3. Check the equipment. Confirm you have the specified pan, appliance and suitable container. If your kitchen has limited equipment, use our microwave and stovetop meal-selection guide.
  4. Decide on the complete plate. Check what is included and what you will add. The pork kit’s product page suggests serving it with Aromatic Rice; check that side’s own instructions too.
  5. Choose a delivery you can plan around. Use Delivery Info for postcode availability and checkout delivery details.

What to check when your order arrives

Match each pack to the meal you planned and read its current storage and preparation instructions. Keep the packaging information available until you have finished preparing the dish. If a label is unclear or differs from information you used when ordering, contact Providoor support before preparing it.

You do not need to treat every dish as the same kind of project. Choose the preparation you want to do, then follow the instructions for that particular meal.
