How to Reheat Lasagne: Covered, Then Uncovered - Providoor

How to Reheat Frozen Lasagne: Check Your Pack First

Author Providoor Editorial Team

Preparation rule: For best results, defrost food in the refrigerator before use. Never submerge food or its packaging in water to defrost or reheat it. Some products give better results cooked from frozen; use that method only where the product’s instructions state it.

Check which lasagne you have before starting. Classic Italian Lasagne and Roasted Pumpkin, Spinach and Ricotta Lasagne may have different preparation requirements. Follow the pack for whether to thaw, how to handle the tray and film, and which appliance to use. A from-scratch recipe is not a substitute for these instructions.

Classic Italian Lasagne: current 900g pack

The Classic Italian Lasagne lists two servings. Its current preparation instructions specify a CPET tray and a 160°C fan-forced oven. Remove the outer packaging and film. Tray microwave compatibility does not, by itself, supply a microwave cooking method for the dish.

From thoroughly defrosted

  1. Defrost under refrigeration as directed on the pack. Preheat the oven to 160°C fan-forced.
  2. Remove the outer packaging and film and place the tray on a baking tray in the centre of the oven.
  3. Heat for 30–32 minutes, until golden on top and piping hot throughout.
  4. Rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

From frozen

  1. Preheat to 160°C fan-forced. Remove outer packaging and film, then cover the tray tightly with foil.
  2. Place on a baking tray in the centre of the oven and heat for 40–45 minutes.
  3. Remove the foil and heat for a further 12–15 minutes, until golden and piping hot throughout.
  4. Rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Roasted Pumpkin, Spinach and Ricotta Lasagne

The Roasted Pumpkin, Spinach and Ricotta Lasagne has different published instructions. They specify 140–160°C, piercing the film for the covered stage and removing the film for the finishing stage. Use the latest sleeve to select the correct settings for your pack; do not copy the classic lasagne’s film-removal steps onto this product.

  • Defrosted: 20–25 minutes covered, then 10–12 minutes with the film removed.
  • Frozen: 40–45 minutes covered, then 12–15 minutes with the film removed.
  • Stand for 5–10 minutes before serving; heat until hot throughout.

Why the covered and uncovered stages differ

Follow the sequence for your specific lasagne. A covered stage and an uncovered finish serve different purposes, and their timings cannot be swapped between products. Keep the correct packaging instructions alongside the oven timings.

Serve your lasagne

Allow the stated resting time before portioning. Add a salad or side of your choice and use the pack’s servings to plan quantities. A Braised Beef Moussaka has its own preparation method; do not use lasagne times for it.

Common questions

Can I reheat lasagne from frozen?

The current instructions for both lasagnes include a frozen method, with different stages. Use the instructions for the pack you have.

Can I microwave it?

The current lasagne preparation methods describe oven heating. A microwave-safe tray is not the same as a validated microwave method for its contents. Follow the latest packaging.

Should I keep the film on?

The classic lasagne instructions say to remove it. The pumpkin, spinach and ricotta instructions say to pierce it for the covered stage and remove it afterwards. Check your exact sleeve.

How much does the classic lasagne weigh?

The current Classic Italian Lasagne is 900g and lists two servings.

It appears that your voucher belongs to the old Providoor, which, unfortunately, is not us. :(

We understand how much the original Providoor meant to many Australians, especially during the challenging times of COVID. It provided a way to enjoy high-quality meals from beloved restaurants in the comfort of your home. We also understand that some of you may still hold vouchers from the previous iteration of Providoor, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

When the original Providoor, unfortunately, went into administration, we made the decision to purchase the brand because we recognised its significance to so many Australians. Providoor was more than just a business; it was a source of comfort, connection, and joy during tough times. However, while we have revived and rebranded Providoor to focus on delivering gourmet frozen meals from celebrity chefs, we are a completely new company with a different business model and operations.

This means that we do not have any obligation to honour the vouchers issued by the previous company, as those financial liabilities were not transferred to us during the acquisition. We know this may be disappointing news, but please understand that we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our valued customers.

Thank you again for your understanding and for being a part of Providoor’s journey. We are committed to providing you with the highest quality gourmet experiences, and we look forward to serving you in the future.

Warm regards,
The Providoor Team
