To work out the cost of a delivered dinner, add the dishes and sides you plan to serve, subtract any eligible discount, then add the delivery charge for your address. Divide that total by the number of complete meals you actually plan to make.
In the examples below, food costs $100 for six curry-and-rice meals, $120 for a three-course dinner for four, or $184 for a three-course shared dinner for six. Delivery is separate unless the order qualifies for free delivery. These are different menus, not a like-for-like price comparison.
Prices and listed servings checked on 12 October 2026. All amounts are in Australian dollars. The examples use individual product prices, with no discount code or bundle offer. Prices, stock and delivery options can change; confirm your final order in the cart and checkout.

A pack price tells you what one product costs. It does not always tell you the cost of the plate you want to serve. A curry paired with rice needs both products in the calculation. Lasagne already contains pasta, so a separate pasta purchase is not part of those examples.
Use each product’s listed servings as a starting point, then adjust for your household’s appetites and the rest of the menu. Count the people eating a complete dinner once: a starter, main and dessert for four people is four dinners, not twelve.
These are high-quality meals that are easy to cook and finish at home, with preparation instructions specific to each dish. Check those instructions, ingredients and allergens before choosing your menu. Add any salad, bread, drinks, dessert toppings or other extras to your budget if you plan to serve them.
Basket one: Two people across three dinners
This order pairs three different curries with separately purchased rice. The plan is one two-serve curry and one two-serve rice pack per dinner: two people eating on three occasions, or six complete curry-and-rice meals.
| Product | Packs | Listed servings per pack | Price per pack | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Butter Chicken | 1 | 2 main servings | $23.00 | $23.00 |
| Thai Green Chicken Curry | 1 | 2 main servings | $22.00 | $22.00 |
| Coconut & Prawn Curry | 1 | 2 main servings | $28.00 | $28.00 |
| Aromatic Rice | 3 | 2 side servings | $9.00 | $27.00 |
| Food subtotal | $100.00 |
Food cost per planned meal: $100 ÷ 6 = approximately $16.67. The six rice side servings accompany the six curry servings; they are not six additional dinners. This example does not include a starter, dessert, naan or other extras.
The $100 food subtotal meets the $80 minimum order, but it is below the free-delivery thresholds. If your address qualifies for the published $14.95 metro delivery fee, the delivered order would be $114.95, or approximately $19.16 per planned meal. For another delivery fee, calculate ($100 + your delivery charge) ÷ 6.
The delivery charge is allocated across all six meals in this order. It is not charged six times, and this calculation does not describe a separate order for each dinner.
Basket two: A three-course family dinner for four
For this example, four people share soup, two types of lasagne and a pudding. The two lasagne packs provide four listed main servings in total. The soup and pudding provide the accompanying courses for those same four people.
| Product | Packs | Listed servings per pack | Price per pack | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pumpkin Soup | 2 | 2 starter servings | $16.00 | $32.00 |
| Classic Italian Lasagne | 1 | 2 main servings | $32.00 | $32.00 |
| Roasted Pumpkin, Spinach and Ricotta Lasagne | 1 | 2 main servings | $32.00 | $32.00 |
| Sticky Date Pudding with Banana | 1 | 4 dessert servings | $24.00 | $24.00 |
| Food subtotal | $120.00 |
Food cost per person: $120 ÷ 4 = $30.00. This counts the entire purchased menu. It does not include salad, bread, mascarpone, ice cream or drinks; add their cost if you choose them.
This basket meets the minimum order but remains below the free-delivery thresholds. With a qualifying $14.95 metro delivery charge, the delivered total would be $134.95, or approximately $33.74 per person. Otherwise, use ($120 + your delivery charge) ÷ 4.
Basket three: A shared three-course table for six
This larger order uses six listed soup servings, six lasagne main servings and one pack containing six berry tartlets. The serving plan is one soup portion, one main portion and one tartlet for each of six people.
| Product | Packs | Listed servings per pack | Price per pack | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pumpkin Soup | 3 | 2 starter servings | $16.00 | $48.00 |
| Classic Italian Lasagne | 2 | 2 main servings | $32.00 | $64.00 |
| Roasted Pumpkin, Spinach and Ricotta Lasagne | 1 | 2 main servings | $32.00 | $32.00 |
| Country Berry Almond Tart | 1 | 6 tartlets | $40.00 | $40.00 |
| Food subtotal | $184.00 |
Food cost per person: $184 ÷ 6 = approximately $30.67. Cream, ice cream, extra sides and drinks are not included.
With no discount applied, this basket exceeds Sydney’s $179 free-delivery threshold. For an eligible Sydney address, the delivered total would therefore be $184.00, or approximately $30.67 per person.
The same basket is below the $199 threshold for eligible Victorian and Queensland addresses. If your Melbourne or Brisbane metro address qualifies for the published $14.95 fee, the delivered total would be $198.95, or approximately $33.16 per person. Regional fees may differ; confirm the charge for your address.
Minimum order and free delivery are different checks
The current delivery rules set a minimum food order of $80 after discounts, excluding delivery charges. Free delivery starts at a food subtotal after discounts of:
- $179 for eligible Sydney addresses.
- $199 for eligible delivery addresses in Victoria and Queensland.
Standard delivery is currently listed at $14.95 within Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane metro delivery zones. Regional fees vary by postcode, and delivery availability depends on the address. Use Delivery Info to check your area and confirm the final charge at checkout.
Apply any eligible discount before checking the minimum and free-delivery threshold. A discount can reduce an otherwise qualifying basket below the threshold. The examples here assume no discount; they do not promise eligibility for a particular offer or that different offers can be combined.
If you are considering an extra product to reach free delivery, compare the final payable totals with and without it. Spending more on food is not automatically a saving, even when the delivery charge becomes zero.

Edit an example using current pack prices. Count the complete meals you plan to serve, then enter any eligible food discount and applicable charges. This planner does not read your cart or check your address.

Only select an eligible area after checking Providoor Delivery Info. The planner applies the standard threshold to your food subtotal after discounts; it cannot confirm a postcode, a special offer or the final checkout charge.
Copy this template and add one row for each product. Use the pack quantity you intend to buy and the current price of that pack.
| Product | Pack price | Number of packs | Line total |

| Main dish or dishes | |||
| Rice, pasta or another side if needed | |||
| Starter or dessert if wanted | |||
| Other purchased extras |
- Food subtotal: add all line totals, where each line is pack price × number of packs.
- Food subtotal after discounts: subtract only the eligible discount actually applied to the food order.
- Delivered order total: add the delivery charge confirmed for your address, plus any other checkout charges shown.
- Cost per planned complete meal: divide the full total by the number of complete meals you plan to serve from the whole order.
If part of the order is for another occasion, include those meals in the allocation or calculate that part separately. Do not divide the whole order only by tonight’s diners and call the result its cost per meal. Round per-person figures at the end of the calculation; rounded shares may not add back to the total exactly.
Plan the menu first, then confirm the basket
The useful number is the cost of the meal you actually want, with enough food for your planned portions and the correct delivery charge. Recheck it when you change a dish, add extras, apply an offer or enter a different address.
